How to Authenticate Your Domain Name on GoDaddy

How to Authenticate Your Domain Name on GoDaddy

In this article, you will learn how to set up authentication for your domain name on GoDaddy.

What you will need:

•        A MerwinSaaS account

•        A domain name on GoDaddy

Case 1: Sending Emails via MerwinSaaS

Step 1: Log In to Your MerwinSaaS Account

1.     Hover over your profile picture and click on Settings, then Emails.

2.     Go to the Domains section, then click the link labeled: "Click here to authenticate your domain and display its information in your email header, which will help improve your email delivery rates."

3.     In the popup that appears, enter your domain name (without the "www"), then click Save to generate three CNAME records and one TXT record.

4.     To display the list of DNS records, refresh the page and click the eye icon. You will see three CNAMEs and one TXT (DMARC) record that must be added to authenticate your domain.

IMPORTANT:

5.     Authentication of a domain name is mandatory to send emails from MerwinSaaS.

6.     The domain you want to authenticate must have an active website linked to it. If the domain leads to a 404 error page, email providers may block your emails.

7.     You cannot authenticate domains from personal email providers (e.g., Gmail, Yahoo, ProtonMail). Only custom domains can be authenticated.

Step 2: On Your GoDaddy Account

Log in to your GoDaddy account and add the provided CNAME records to your domain's DNS zone.

Note: If you encounter any difficulties, please contact your host's support team for guidance.

8.     Once logged in, select the domain you want to authenticate, click on DNS records, then click Add new record.

9.     Select the CNAME option for adding the first three records.

10.  In the Name field, paste the value from MerwinSaaS. Important: Enter only the part before your domain name (e.g., if the value is si942517.yourdomain.com, enter only si942517).

11.  In the Value field, paste the value provided by MerwinSaaS and append a period (.) to the end.

The records should look like this in your DNS zone (these values are examples):

Name: si942517     Value: inbound.merwinsaas.

Name: systemeio1._domainkey     Value: key1.merwinsaas.

Name: systemeio2._domainkey     Value: key2.merwinsaas.

Click Save to validate. Repeat this process for all three CNAME records.

12.  Select the TXT option for adding the DMARC record.

13.  Return to the list of records in MerwinSaaS to copy the generated TXT record. Add it as follows:

Name: _dmarc

Value: v=DMARC1; p=none; rua=mailto:your@email.com

14.  Click Save to validate.

15.  Verify your CNAME records at dnschecker.org — a green check next to each means successful authentication. If any appear red, check your DNS settings for errors and contact support with a screenshot.

16.  Verify your DMARC record at mxtoolbox.com/dmarc.aspx.

IMPORTANT: To send emails using your authenticated domain, you must confirm the sender email address associated with that domain.

Case 2: Using Your Own SendGrid Account

If you are using your own SendGrid account and not MerwinSaaS's autoresponder, contact SendGrid support for instructions on authenticating your  domain to improve deliverability.
